For audiobook narrators

Press record once. Read the line, press next. Your chapter is done when you are.

Relato keeps your place in the manuscript and keeps the last read of every line. You read, it sorts. No retakes left to cut out afterwards.

Where the hours go

You came to read. Most of the hours go to everything around the reading.

Every keystroke counts

Stop, rewind, find your place, punch in. Small actions, repeated all book long, on a voice that is tired by day two.

The script lives somewhere else

A PDF on a second screen, a recorder in another window. Switching between them gets into the recording.

The fluffs stay in the file

A long raw recording full of false starts, and hours of listening to find and remove them.

The method

One line at a time. One file per chapter.

Relato is built around one way of working, and nothing else.

  1. Open your manuscript

Headings become chapters, each line of text a line to read. Before you record, Relato reads it first: names go into a pronunciation list, and long sentences are flagged.

  2. Read from a large, dark prompter

The current line is lit; the rest stays quiet. Built to be read from across the booth.

  3. Next or again — one key each

Got it? Next. Fluffed it? Again: the line starts over and the last read wins. One key each, so your eyes stay on the text.

  4. Export clean chapters

One audio file per chapter, every line in order, the retakes already gone, room tone at the start and end. Ready for your editing and mastering.

Your way of reading

Fix as you go, or read straight through.

Fix as you go

Press again the moment a line goes wrong. Relato keeps only the read you moved on from.

Read straight through

Keep the performance flowing and press next at each line. Nothing forces you to stop.

Your recordings never leave your device.

Nothing uploaded

Relato records and exports on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. No upload, no cloud processing.

No AI voice

Relato records you. It does not generate, clone or train on voices.
